Telescopic boom lifts enable linear, fast work at great height - without slewing, without compromising on outreach. Luibl Rental & Sales keeps a modern rental fleet of telescopic and articulating boom lifts with working heights up to 57 m, with delivery throughout Belgium by its own low-loader fleet.

Why rent a telescopic boom lift? Benefits and applications

Telescopic boom lifts excel where fast vertical movement, large horizontal outreach and stability are required.

Typical applications:

  • Facade work and window cleaning on high-rise buildings

  • Installation of steel structures and roof structures

  • Maintenance in power generation plants and power stations

  • Maintenance work on bridges and infrastructure

  • Outdoor installation work on industrial and commercial sites

Practical example: For cleaning the facade of a fully glazed office building at 40 m height, an articulating boom lift was used. The precise, separate control of the telescopic boom and the knuckle made it possible to reach individual glass panels directly without repositioning the machine - a clear time advantage over other types of aerial work platform.

Linearity as the core advantage: Telescopic boom lifts travel at full height without twisting the structure. This considerably increases efficiency on long facade sections.

Diesel or electric: the right telescopic boom lift for every job

Diesel telescopic boom lifts - for rough terrain and large sites

Diesel models are designed for outdoor use on unpaved ground. The key features:

  • Four-wheel drive with differential lock for mud, gravel and sites with soft ground

  • Oscillating axle: actively compensates for uneven ground and keeps the platform level - critical on sites without a flat surface

  • High gradeability: rough-terrain models handle gradients of up to 45 %

  • Watch the ground pressure: on soft ground, surface pressure is decisive; diesel models with wider tyres and optional anti-slip protection have the edge here

Electric telescopic boom lifts - for halls, industry and sensitive environments

Electric models are designed for indoor use and emission-sensitive areas:

  • Non-marking tyres protect hall floors and coatings

  • No local emissions - suitable for areas with strict emission requirements (pharmaceutical industry, food processing)

  • Low noise for use during ongoing production

  • More compact design for narrow hall doors and limited clearance heights

Key technical facts: what to look out for when renting

Before choosing the machine, clarify the following parameters:

Working height vs. platform height

The platform height is about 2 m below the stated working height. What matters for the choice of machine is the actual standing height of the installer - not the manufacturer's value on the data sheet.

Outreach

Indicates how far you can work horizontally beyond an obstacle. Decisive for parapets, roof overhangs or installations that must not be driven under.

Basket load / load capacity

Depending on the model, platform load capacities range between 200 and 450 kg. Tools, material and all persons in the basket must be calculated together.

Load moment limiter

Electronic safety system that automatically prevents overloading and unstable outreach positions. Required by EN 280 and active as standard on all Luibl rental machines.

Ground pressure

Indicates the pressure load per square centimetre on the ground. For underground car park slabs, industrial floors and surfaces sensitive to compaction, agree this in advance with the structural engineer.

Note on levelling: Modern telescopic boom lifts allow automatic platform levelling up to a defined ground slope angle. Values outside this tolerance require packing plates or an alternative machine.

How much does it cost to rent a telescopic boom lift?

There is no flat rental price - the calculation depends on several factors:

Price-relevant parameters:

  • Machine type and working height: Small telescopic boom lifts up to 20 m are well below the price level of machines of 40 m and more

  • Rental duration: Weekly and monthly rentals offer considerable savings compared with daily rates; long-term rentals often already include periodic inspection and maintenance

  • Transport distance: Delivery by our own low-loader is calculated by distance and effort

  • Special equipment: Specific tyres (heavy tread, hard ground), basket size or additional equipment can affect the price

Recommendation: Request project quotes for several machines - for large sites Luibl puts together combined rental packages with one central contact person.

Which licence do you need for telescopic boom lifts?

In Belgium no separate licence is prescribed for operating aerial work platforms. Clear qualification requirements do apply, however:

The Code on Well-being at Work, Book IV (work equipment), requires the operator to have received instruction. The employer is responsible for the qualification of its employees.

IPAF training (International Powered Access Federation) is the recognised industry standard for operator qualification - especially on international projects and for large companies.

Luibl provides the operator briefing on handover - ideal for renters working with telescopic boom lifts of this class for the first time.

Logistics and service: rental by Luibl throughout Belgium

With its own low-loader fleet, Luibl ensures on-schedule delivery throughout Belgium as well as to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Czechia, Hungary, Italy and other countries.

Service standards:

  • Check before every delivery: Every rental machine is checked and periodically inspected under the Code on Well-being at Work, Book IV. Documentation is provided on delivery.

  • On-site briefing: On request, a Luibl technician gives instruction on the machine at the work location on handover.

  • Prompt technician service: In the event of a breakdown, Luibl keeps downtime to a minimum with direct on-site support.

  • White-label rental: Luibl acts as a specialist partner for other rental companies that need specific high-reach machines.

Why Luibl? More than 20 years of rental expertise: Luibl has supported projects for car plants (BMW, Mercedes, Audi), logistics centres and industrial facilities throughout Europe. This experience feeds directly into our advice - from machine recommendation to logistics planning for sites with several machines in parallel.

FAQ: Renting telescopic boom lifts

chevronDown

Is an on-site briefing on the machine possible?

Yes. On request, Luibl provides a technician for the briefing at the place of use. For complex or longer projects, the technician can provide ongoing support on site.

Can I rent a telescopic boom lift for a single day?

Yes. Luibl rents by the day, week and month. For projects with longer terms, long-term rental conditions are considerably more economical - on request including periodic inspection and maintenance.

Can Luibl combine several machines for a large site?

Yes. Luibl prepares project quotes for several machines of different types (telescopic boom lifts, scissor lifts, telehandlers) with one central contact person. Reference projects include automotive plants of BMW, Mercedes and Audi.

What ground conditions are required to use a telescopic boom lift?

That depends on the model. Electric models need a level hall floor with sufficient bearing capacity. Diesel rough-terrain models are designed for soft, uneven ground. The ground pressure of the machine concerned must be checked in advance with the structural engineer - especially on underground car park decks or industrial floors with limited bearing capacity.

Do I have to collect a telescopic boom lift myself or does Luibl deliver?

Luibl delivers with its own low-loader fleet directly to the site - throughout Belgium. Self-collection is possible on request but is rarely chosen, especially for large machines.

Are the rental machines inspected and safe?

Every rental machine is checked before delivery and has a valid periodic inspection by an external technical inspection body (EDTC/SECT). The inspection documentation is available on delivery. The basis is the Belgian well-being at work legislation (Act of 4 August 1996 and the Code on Well-being at Work).

Does Luibl also deliver abroad?

Yes. Luibl delivers throughout Belgium and to other European countries - including Austria, Switzerland, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Italy. Transport costs are calculated per project.

What is the difference between a telescopic boom lift and an articulating boom lift?

A straight telescopic boom lift extends its boom in a straight line - ideal for direct, fast vertical access. An articulating boom lift also has a knuckle joint that allows work over obstacles. For facade work with parapets or overhangs, the articulating boom lift is the more flexible choice.

Does Luibl also offer operator training?

No. Luibl does not offer certified operator training in Belgium. On handover, you receive an operator briefing for all machine types. For proof of operator qualification - for example where clients require IPAF - please contact an accredited IPAF training centre.

Up to what working height does Luibl hire out telescopic boom lifts?

Luibl hires out telescopic and articulating boom lifts with working heights of up to 57 m. For specific height requirements, an individual equipment recommendation is made following a project briefing.

How far does a telescopic boom lift reach sideways?

Up to 27.43 m: the largest outreach in the Luibl rental fleet belongs to the Genie SX-135XC at 43.15 m working height. Compact models such as the Haulotte H14TX reach 10.30 m outreach at 14.00 m working height.
