Rent a hybrid articulating boom lift - one machine for indoors and outdoors

Hybrid articulating boom lifts combine two drives in one machine: a combustion engine for travelling on rough terrain and an electric drive for emission-free work in enclosed spaces. The term bi-energy is also used for this. Luibl Rental rents hybrid articulating boom lifts with working heights of up to 49 metres - delivered by low-loader to your site, throughout Belgium.

The benefit lies not in the technology itself but in the fact that a project can manage with one machine instead of two. Precisely where outdoor and indoor work follow one another, this saves an entire transport.

When the hybrid drive pays off

For purely indoor use, the electric articulating boom lift is the more economical choice, and for continuous outdoor work the diesel version. Hybrid pays off in four situations:

  • Switching between outdoors and indoors on the same project - for example a facade followed by assembly in the hall, without changing machines.
  • Sites without a reliable power supply - the combustion engine recharges the battery, so electric operation remains available.
  • Emission- or noise-sensitive environments - city centres, hospitals, food businesses, heritage conservation. In electric mode the machine works with no local emissions and considerably more quietly.
  • Long working days - where a purely battery-powered machine would reach its runtime limit, the second drive bridges the gap.

Machines in the rental fleet

In the hybrid segment we offer, among others, the Niftylift HR 21 Hybrid and HR 28 Hybrid as well as the Genie Z60-37FE. The ranges cover heights from around 20 metres up to the top class and are designed for alternating use - four-wheel drive and oscillating axles for rough terrain, non-marking tyres for sensitive floors.

Which machine fits depends less on the drive than on working height, outreach and basket load. With more weight in the basket, the permitted outreach decreases - so tell us the work point, the set-up position and the load.

What to consider in hybrid operation

Switching between drives is straightforward for the operator, but you should plan for two points:

  • Charging time. Electric operation is only available as long as the battery is charged. For longer indoor phases, plan for recharging or alternating operation.
  • Dead weight. Two drive trains mean more mass than a purely electric machine. Check the permissible point load at the set-up location and the load-bearing capacity of floors and access routes in advance.

For safe operation, as with any aerial work platform: operators have received adequate instruction under the Code on Well-being at Work, and personal fall protection equipment is worn on the platform. Every machine leaves our rental fleet with a valid periodic inspection by an EDTC and complete documentation.

How much does a hybrid articulating boom lift cost?

The rental price depends on the same factors as for the other types: working height, outreach, rental period and transport. Hybrid machines are generally priced above the comparable electric and diesel versions, because two drive trains are installed. They become economical where they replace a second machine or an additional transport - the higher daily rate is then offset by a delivery saved.

Daily, weekly and monthly rates are tiered. Delivery and collection are shown separately and depend on the distance to your site, the transport weight and access. Included are the inspected machine, maintenance and periodic inspections during the rental period, and technical advice.

Tell us the working height, required outreach, ground conditions, rental period and job location - you will receive an itemised quote. All types at a glance: rent an articulating boom lift, the full range in the rental fleet.

FAQ: Renting a hybrid articulating boom lift

chevronDown

What does hybrid mean for an articulating boom lift?

The machine has two drives: a combustion engine for travelling on site and an electric drive for working in enclosed spaces. The term bi-energy is also used. In electric mode, the platform operates with zero local emissions and much more quietly.

When is hybrid worthwhile compared to electric or diesel?

Whenever outdoor and indoor work follow each other in the same project, when there is no reliable power supply on site or when the environment is sensitive to emissions and noise. For pure indoor use the electric version is cheaper, for continuous outdoor work the diesel version.

How high does a hybrid articulating boom lift reach?

In the hybrid segment, our rental fleet covers working heights of up to 49 metres. More important than height alone is usually the outreach: it determines how far from the set-up position you can work without moving the machine.

Do I have to charge the battery in between?

Electric operation is available as long as the battery is charged. The combustion engine recharges it during operation. For longer indoor phases, plan a charging period or alternating operation - this belongs in the job planning, not in improvisation on site.

Is the machine heavier than a purely electric platform?

Yes. Two drivetrains mean more mass. So check the permissible point load at the set-up location and the bearing capacity of access routes and intermediate floors in advance. We will give you the dead weight of every model.

What qualification does the operator need?

As with any aerial work platform, operating personnel must have been instructed in line with applicable Belgian safety rules. On the platform, personal fall protection is appropriate for work at height under the Code on Well-being at Work. Your employees receive a briefing on the specific machine on handover.

How is the platform delivered?

With our own low-loader fleet: delivered by low-loader to your site, throughout Belgium. Machines of this class need specialised transport equipment. Check access and unloading space in advance - this is the most common cause of delays.

Has the machine undergone periodic inspection?

Every machine leaves our rental fleet with a valid periodic inspection by an external technical inspection body (EDTC/SECT) and complete technical documentation. Maintenance and recurring inspections during the rental period are included in the rental price.
