Diesel scissor lift rental at Luibl Rental
Diesel scissor lift rental - rough-terrain scissor lifts from 10 m to 34 m for your large project
Anyone who needs to work at height with heavy loads on unpaved outdoor terrain cannot do without a diesel scissor lift. Electric machines are ruled out on topsoil, gravel or sloping open ground - not because of the lift height, but because of the drive, ground clearance and load reserves under real conditions. The Luibl rental fleet includes 27 diesel scissor lifts from renowned manufacturers such as Holland Lift, JLG, Magni, Genie and HAB - with working heights from 10 m to 34 m and load capacities up to 1,000 kg. All machines are checked before handover in line with applicable Belgian safety rules and the EN 280 standard and delivered in technically perfect condition.
Performance classes in the Luibl rental fleet: compact, large and high-bay class
Not every diesel scissor lift is suitable for every application. The decisive selection parameters are working height, platform payload, platform length when extended and the off-road capability of the chassis. Luibl divides its diesel range into three performance classes so that you can assess which type of machine your project requires before you enquire.
Compact class: 10 m to 14 m working height for confined outdoor areas
Compact diesel scissor lifts are the right choice when access routes are narrow, the ground is uneven and working heights of more than ten metres are still required. The models in this class have a narrow width that allows them to pass through standard site gates, and an extendable deck that enlarges the usable platform area without lifting. Typical applications are facade work on existing buildings with limited forecourt space, installation work on industrial sites with uneven gravel beds or assembly work on sites where no crane is available.
The machine class at a glance:
-
Working height: 10 m to 14 m
-
Drive: diesel/four-wheel drive
-
Gradeability: up to 45 %
-
Platform design: extendable deck for more material storage
Large scissor lifts with extended deck: 15 m to 22 m
From approx. 15 m working height, the focus shifts to platform capacity. In hall and facade construction, these machines are used when several people work on the platform at the same time and materials such as sandwich panels, ventilation ducts or support profiles are processed directly from the deck. The platforms in this class can be extended to lengths of more than 6 m, and the load capacity is up to 750 kg - enough for two people with heavy tools and semi-finished materials.
A proven machine in this segment is the JLG Liftlux 203-24: 22.5 m working height, 750 kg load capacity, 10 m² platform area, 11,400 kg own weight. The same applies to the HAB S225-24 D4WDS with 22.5 m working height and four-wheel drive. Both models are fitted with white, non-marking solid rubber tyres - a key criterion for use in freshly coated factory halls, where conventional rough-terrain tyres would leave tracks.
The JLG Liftlux 260-25 covers the upper limit of this class with 28 m working height. Four-wheel steering combined with four-wheel drive ensures precise travel even on uneven terrain; proportional control of all drive and lift functions enables millimetre-accurate positioning under load. When stowed, the machine travels at 3.6 km/h; when raised, the travel speed is limited to 0.3 km/h.

High-bay and large scissor lifts: 23 m to 34 m for industrial plant construction
The top performance segment of the Luibl rental fleet covers projects for which no other type of aerial work platform is sufficient: facade installations on multi-storey industrial and logistics buildings, steel structure assembly in plant construction, roof work on halls with ridge heights over 20 m. Luibl is one of the few rental companies with several 34 m diesel scissor lifts in its own fleet.
The flagship of this class is the Holland Lift HL 340D30 4WDS: 34 m working height, 1,000 kg load capacity, 3 m platform width, approx. 32 tonnes own weight. The platform can be extended up to 9.66 m - a value rarely achieved by comparable competing products. All drive and lift functions are proportionally controlled. An electronic tilt sensor automatically switches off the lift function as soon as the permissible ground inclination is exceeded. A differential lock and a switchable high-speed gear complete the chassis.
Also in the fleet: the Magni DS3225RT with 32 m working height and the Holland Lift Megastar G320, the predecessor of the HL 340D30 with identical working height.
Important planning note: Machines in the 34 m class have a width of 3 m and a transport weight of almost 32 tonnes. This requires an exceptional transport. The permit is applied for online via WebTEUV and is valid throughout Belgium; allow sufficient lead time for the permit and transport organisation. Luibl coordinates the exceptional transport with its own low-loader fleet.

Technical equipment for demanding terrain: four-wheel drive, oscillating axle and differential lock
On paper, 'rough terrain' sounds like a simple feature. In practice, the combination of several chassis features determines whether a diesel scissor lift can really be set up safely on a real site.
Four-wheel drive and four-wheel steering are the basic requirement. Four-wheel drive distributes the drive force evenly across all axles - essential on soft ground, where a single axle would spin. Four-wheel steering makes it possible to manoeuvre around obstacles in the tightest spaces, which is often underestimated with long platform machines outdoors.
Oscillating axle: On uneven surfaces, the oscillating axle keeps all four wheels in permanent contact with the ground - even when the ground varies between the axles. Without this feature, a wheel would lift on uneven ground, leading to lateral instability that the electronic tilt sensor detects but does not prevent. The oscillating axle is fitted as standard on most machines from the 20 m class upwards.
Differential lock: If a drive wheel loses traction on slippery or soft ground, the differential lock prevents one-sided wheel spin and transfers the torque to the wheel with better grip. In facade construction on topsoil - especially after rain - this feature is the decisive difference between a working machine and one that is stuck.
Solid tyres vs. rough-terrain tyres: Rough-terrain models with foam filling or solid rubber tyres have a decisive advantage in workshops and on freshly coated industrial floors: they leave no tracks. For projects where the machine alternates between outdoor and indoor use, this is an important selection criterion. The HAB S225-24 D4WDS is available in the Luibl fleet with these non-marking solid tyres.
Logistics and safety standards at Luibl machine rental
All diesel scissor lifts in the Luibl rental fleet are technically checked before delivery. The inspection obligation follows from the ARAB/RGPT (Art. 280 and 281), to which the Code on Well-being at Work, Book IV (work equipment), refers: an external technical inspection body (EDTC/SECT) inspects the platform before first use and then carries out a full examination at least every 12 months, with safety-related parts checked at least every 3 months. The user must keep the report of each inspection available to the inspectorate at all times. NBN EN 280 - the European standard for mobile elevating work platforms - defines the minimum design requirements (stability, load charts, wind load limits).
For long-term rentals, Luibl offers combined packages including periodic inspection by an external technical inspection body (EDTC/SECT) and periodic maintenance - particularly useful for projects lasting several months, as the inspection obligation applies regardless of whether the machine is bought or rented.
Transport is carried out with our own low-loader fleet. For standard machines up to 28 m working height, a special permit is usually not required. For the 34 m class (width 3 m, weight approx. 32 t), an exceptional transport is required - Luibl coordinates the permit and vehicle deployment. Delivery throughout Belgium and to all other Luibl markets: Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Czechia, Italy, Hungary, Luxembourg.
In the event of technical faults during the rental period, you can request a technician via the form on luibl.be. The technician is sent directly to the site to minimise downtime.
Checklist for site managers before ordering:
-
Check the ground bearing capacity at the set-up area (guide value: point load up to 30 t depending on machine class on a footprint of approx. 3 m x 4 m)
-
Clarify access width and clearance height for the low-loader and the machine
-
Measure the ground slope (max. permitted according to the manufacturer's specification; for 34 m models typically <= 3 degrees in operation)
-
Request the report of the last periodic inspection (EDTC/SECT) - proof of the last check must accompany the machine on site
-
For 34 m models: plan the exceptional transport permit (WebTEUV) in good time
