At Luibl Rental you rent LPG forklifts with load capacities of 1.8 to 7 tonnes and lift heights of over 6 metres. A cylinder change takes less than two minutes and brings the machine straight back to full operation - the decisive advantage in multi-shift work.

The advantages of renting an LPG forklift from Luibl

An LPG forklift is not a compromise - it is the technically correct answer to a specific application profile. Three strengths make the difference:

  • Quickly ready for use without charging cycles. The cylinder change takes under two minutes. No breaks, no second forklift to bridge the gap, no charging infrastructure at the job site. In three-shift operation, this is the decisive productivity lever.

  • Hall and yard with one machine. Thanks to LPG combustion and the three-way catalytic converter, emissions stay low enough for use in ventilated halls - with full performance in the yard at the same time. One forklift covers both zones.

  • High power density at moderate weight. With equivalent load capacity, an LPG forklift is often lighter than an electric counterpart with a heavy battery - reducing ground pressure and allowing use on more sensitive surfaces.

Applications - when is an LPG forklift the best choice?

Beverage and food industry

Beverage wholesale, breweries, food logistics: here there is constant movement between hall, loading ramp and yard - often in multiple shifts and often at a high handling rate. In a project for a beverage wholesaler, LPG forklifts noticeably reduced downtime thanks to the fast cylinder change compared with the charging cycles of electric forklifts. The decisive factor: no unproductive charging break in the middle of peak demand.

Production sites with mixed work zones

Anyone with goods receiving outdoors but production and order picking in the hall needs a machine that serves both zones without problems. LPG forklifts fit this profile without changing drive and without compromising on performance. Typical sectors: automotive suppliers, the packaging industry, timber and furniture production.

Intensive multi-shift use without charging infrastructure

Seasonal peaks, extra shifts, project work on temporary sites: when there is no powerful charging infrastructure at the job site or simply no time for charging cycles, LPG is the plannable solution. Luibl also delivers at short notice for campaigns lasting a few weeks up to long-term rentals of several months.

Event logistics and trade fair construction

Trade fair construction, open-air events, indoor events: flexible zones, changing loads, often no permanent electrical infrastructure. The LPG forklift goes into operation without preparation and stays mobile.

Technical details of our LPG rental forklifts

Load capacities from 1.8 to 7 tonnes

Three capacity classes cover the broad application profile:

  • 1.8 tonnes (Hyundai 18L-7M) - 5.04 m lift height. Compact class for pallet handling, beverage trade and specialist retail.

  • 4 tonnes (Hyundai 40L-7A) - 6.03 m lift height. Mid-range segment for industrial handling, heavy packaging and wholesale.

  • 7 tonnes (Hyundai 70L-7A) - 5.06 m lift height. Top class for mechanical engineering suppliers, the timber industry and steel trading.

Mast types - standard, duplex and triplex

The right mast depends on door height, ceiling height and the desired final lift height:

  • Standard mast for regular use without clearance restrictions

  • Duplex mast two-stage, compact overall height, standard for many warehouses

  • Triplex mast three-stage with initial free lift - essential for container unloading, truck loading under low doors or work on mezzanine floors

Application tip: the initial free lift decides whether you can raise the load without the mast extending upwards. This is critical at container loading doors or with restricted clearance heights.

Attachments as standard or on request

Available as standard:

  • Sideshift - for precise positioning of pallets

  • Fork positioner - hydraulic, for different pallet widths without manual adjustment

Configurable on request:

  • Fork extensions for longer loads

  • Rotators (e.g. paper roll tipper, bin tipper)

  • Full cab with heating and air conditioning

  • Driver's overhead guard with windscreen and wiper

Individual configuration is particularly worthwhile for long-term rentals - we tailor the equipment to your application profile.

Technology - three-way catalytic converter and LPG combustion

LPG forklifts burn liquefied petroleum gas (LPG, usually a propane-butane mix) in a spark-ignition engine. The three-way catalytic converter reduces carbon monoxide, unburnt hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides to a level that permits indoor use - provided the workplace is adequately ventilated (observe the requirements of the Code on Well-being at Work and the Well-being at Work Inspectorate (FPS Employment)). Modern rental machines comply with the current emission standards of the relevant engine class. We supply details of the specific model in the data sheet on request.

Safety and inspections - focus on the LPG system

Handling LPG cylinders is clearly regulated in Belgium. Luibl ensures that every rental machine meets the requirements:

  • Periodic inspection of the LPG system in line with applicable Belgian safety rules by a competent person. Documentation is supplied with every rental machine.

  • Periodic inspection by an external technical inspection body (EDTC/SECT) under the Code on Well-being at Work, Book IV (work equipment), with a current inspection label

  • Secure cylinder holder with inspected fastening and shut-off device

  • Operator instruction by the hirer on handling the gas cylinder - on handover we provide an operator briefing

Operator qualification: Operation requires forklift operator training (adequate training ensured by the employer), supplemented by the required operator qualification in line with applicable Belgian safety rules. Handling the gas cylinders themselves additionally requires an instruction in line with applicable Belgian safety rules (protection against the hazards of liquefied gas).

FAQ: Renting LPG forklifts

chevronDown

Which is cheaper to rent: electric or gas?

The pure daily rental price is often similar for comparable load capacity. What matters is the overall picture: gas forklifts have higher running costs (LPG cylinders) but no infrastructure costs and no charging losses. Electric forklifts are usually cheaper for day shifts only, gas forklifts for multi-shift and outdoor use. For a concrete TCO estimate we advise you based on your shift pattern.

How does the gas supply work for rental machines?

Luibl LPG forklifts use the standard 11 kg cylinder system (refillable or exchange cylinders). You obtain the cylinders from your local gas supplier - we recommend suitable partners if you do not have a source. For larger fleets, a fixed LPG tank installation also makes sense; we advise on this for long-term projects.

How long does a gas cylinder last during rental?

An 11 kg cylinder allows around 6 to 8 hours of intensive operation, depending on model and load profile. That covers a full shift without changing cylinders. For heavier use we recommend keeping a second cylinder on site - the change takes less than two minutes.

Are LPG forklifts suitable for rough terrain?

LPG forklifts are industrial forklifts with low ground clearance. They are designed for paved, level surfaces - asphalt, concrete, paved yards. For unpaved sites, mud or steep ramps, rough-terrain forklifts with four-wheel drive are the right choice.

What equipment is included in the delivery?

Side shift, hydraulic fork positioner and overhead guard are included as standard. The cylinder holder and fixing are already fitted and checked. For short-term rental, we can supply the first gas cylinder on request - for long-term rental, the customer organises the ongoing supply.

What happens if there is a defect during the rental period?

Our technician service is available for on-site call-outs throughout the rental period. For major defects, we organise a replacement machine to minimise downtime.

How is the forklift delivered?

With our own fleet of low-loaders. This makes us independent of external hauliers and ensures plannable appointments. Delivery throughout Belgium and also to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and other countries.

Can an LPG forklift be driven inside a hall?

Yes - with adequate ventilation. The three-way catalytic converter reduces exhaust emissions to the point where indoor use in ventilated workplaces is possible. What counts is the risk assessment in line with applicable Belgian safety rules and the guidance of the Well-being at Work Inspectorate (FPS Employment). For permanent use in enclosed spaces without forced ventilation, we recommend an electric forklift.
